Celebrate World Water Day 2022 by listening to the underwater sounds of Sunderland!

The life aquatic is anything but silent.

To celebrate World Water Day on 22nd March, sound recordist David de la Haye is transforming Sunderland’s ‘Roker Pods’ into a sound installation. Audiences will have the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in unheard aquatic sounds from the surrounding docklands, salty rock-pools, and freshwater zones.

A panel discussion and sound-based workshop at Adventure Sunderland on Roker Marine Walk will accompany the installation. Co-delivered with BE THE SEA and Newcastle University ‘Water Security Hub‘ and hosted by the Chair of the UK & Ireland Soundscape Community, this event will give people a ‘behind the scenes’ peek into acoustic ecology from leading figures in soundscape ecology.
